Teaching Experience

2007 to Present
Benjamin's career as a piano and trumpet teacher began on at part time basis at the East Coast Music centre in King's Lynn, where he still does regular sessional work. depending on the individual's ability, and he undertakes appropriate, detailed and precise content planning and record-keeping for all these one-to-one lessons. Benjamin has been in contact with many schools in Norfolk regarding possible peripatetic input with an aim to inspire each and every student with the joy of music.
Church Pipe Organist

1998 to Present
Since the age of 14, Benjamin has been privileged to play for church services starting with one Sunday of every month playing hymns for Holy Eucharist in Syderstone Church, Norfolk. Services then became more regular at various churches whilst developing to involve and embrace all stages of the Christian calendar. He has also been privileged to provide the trumpet last post for Remembrance Day.
Bruce James Productions

December 2010
Benjamin was Musical Director for pantomime production of 'Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood'. Duties involved heavy preparation for rehearsals - and always being one step ahead of the principal cast members. There was a responsibility for delivering a routine of vocal warm-ups before every rehearsal and each show day performance in order to maintain cast members' vocals, thus avoiding vocal fatigue. In addition, this vocal warm-up routine contained motivational activities whilst encouraging good moral.

Pantomimes involve lots of improvisation to cover any incidental gaps or blackouts on stage. This position also involved lots of purposeful interaction with the Director. Benjamin also received a considerable amount of positive feedback from local newspapers and 'The Stage'.

P &O Cruises

July 2010
This was a 'jump in at the deep end' experience for Benjamin. In May 2010, he took a trip up to Manchester for an audition and was given a job on the spot. He was required to read from various 'pads' of music which included a variety of genres from Ballads, Pop, Musicals, 60's night and Ball room dancing. The role was keyboard player in a guest band on board P & O's ship, 'The Azura'. He took part on a maiden voyage and a cruise around the bay of Biscay, visiting several cities along the way.
College of West Anglia Productions

Spring 2008, 2009 and 2010
This position required Benjamin to work with teenagers on the Performing Arts course as the musical director, tutor and keyboard player for a yearly musical production which was the also students' final project. Whilst these rehearsals were underway, Benjamin was the main influence in selecting the best musicians to join him in the orchestra pit. Therefore, he had to make sure the essential instrument parts were covered whilst ensuring he kept within a set budget. Vocal warm ups were also taken during rehearsals and before show performances at The Angels Theatre in Wisbech.
Boldean Productions

June 2005 to May 2010
'The Johnny Cash Story' featuring the entertainer, Roger Dean. Benjamin was personally involved in the creation of this theatre show which grew in popularity throughout the British Isles. The initial set up to time and preparation of musical arrangements of Johnny Cash's catalogue. This company included 4 members: vocals/guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and drums. Benjamin was asked to take control with any arrangements and to keeping in with the style. Once the show was on the road, he took part in some promotion, booking of theatre venues and transportation of other musicians. The show attracted stunning reviews from both newspapers and audience members. Those include The Stage, The Financial Times and many local papers. Also involved were many interviews on BBC radio, Dublin Country Music station, Aberdeen Saturday Morning radio.

During the five years that he was a member of the Boldean Productions, Benjamin managed to obtain an 'artist relation scheme' with Roland UK Ltd*


Extravaganza Productions

December 2006, 2008 and 2009
Benjamin was both musical director and keyboard player for pantomime productions of Aladdin (twice) and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He first carried out an audition at Butlins holiday resort, Skegness. Once given the position of Musical Director, he has been involved in a variety of Extravaganza production's pantomime seasons which include: Palace Theatre, Newark on Trent and two consecutive years at the Peepul Centre Theatre, Leicester. Benjamin's duties as musical director involved being on call for rehearsals, overseeing all musical aspects of the show, including sound and the drummer, and vocal warm ups.
Six-Piece band, Germany

September 2006
This position was offered to Benjamin via an audition in Birmingham. The role was keyboard player in a six piece non-reading function band playing at various venues in Munster, Germany. This role involved a lot of improvisation and, due to the bass player's absence on a few evenings, he was required to provide bass on the keyboards.

Benjamin has also worked as musical director, keyboard player, 2nd keyboard player and trumpet player in a variety of amateur productions which include Annie Get Your Gun, Bugsy Malone, Oklahoma, Oliver, Pinocchio, Jekyll and Hyde and We Will Rock You.
